I'm now 55 and my husband kindly informed me that I'm now nearer 60 than 50 - frightening.
The house is full again - the London son and Loughborough daughter having descended for Christmas, and the washing machine and tumble drier are feeling the strain. In fact it's just like old times with people in dressing gowns draped over chairs and laptops all over the lounge floor.
I got some lovely birthday presents including six books that I can't wait to read - but judging by the amount of ironing, cooking and shopping that'll have to be done over the next few days, it will be some time before I can sit down and turn a page.
